Description :
Daruju grows wild in coast area, riverbank, and other place which its(the soil;land;ground is muddy and haves water brackish. Annual bush, having bar wet, grows straightening or lies down at its(the jetty, height 0,5-2 m. Cylindrical round bar, rather weakens, smooth surface, having colour cacao, sharp-pointed and long thorny. Unique leaf, short handle, situation looks out on crosslegged. Leaf blade is in the form of length or Iancet, basal and sharp-pointed back part, long 9-30 cm, wide 4-12 cm. Compound interest gathers in seed which length 6-30 cm, exit from tip of bar, blue purple corolla. Its(the fruit is fruit of box, ovoid, length ± 3 cm, depth of colour. Kidney-shaped seed, the numbers 2-4 fruits. Its(the root is main root, having colour white of brass. Daruju can be multiplied with seed.

Local Name :
LOCAL NAME: Jeruju ( Malay), daruju ( Java). Name of strangers(foreigners Lao shu le ( C), sea holly ( I). Name of simplisia Acanthi Radix ( root daruju).


Curable Disease :
Root daruju the taste is bitter, in character cool, having special quality as anti inflamatory ( antiphlogistic) and peluruh phlegm ( ekspektorans). Seed is having special quality as blood cleaner. Simply, root infusion daruju 0,8 g/kg bb and 1,2 g/kg bb at hare which has been given parasetamol toxic dose can quicken degradation of enzymatic activity SGPT and SGOT manifestly. But, doesn't give change of enzymatic activity ALP. Dose 1,2 g/kg quicker bb reduced SGOT and SGPT compared to with dose 0,8 g/ kg bb. PART APPLIED
Part applied is root, leaf, and seed. Before applied, cleans root until cleanness, thin iris, then put to the sun until drought.

INDICATION

Root applied for therapy :
chafes liver ( hepatitis) chronic and acute, magnification of liver and spleen ( hepatosplenomegali), magnification of gland limfe ( lymphadenopathie), including magnification of gland limfe at tuberculosis ( tuberculosis) skin ( skrofulode rma), gondongan ( parotitis), asphyxia ( bronchial asthma), wormy, stomach pain in bone, stomachache, cancer, especially liver cancer.

Seed applied for therapy :
abscess and wormy.

WAY OF USAGE
For drug drinked, provides 30-60 g root daruju drought, then braised or team with flesh.
For external usage, dry root grind until smooth, then spread at part of wounded body or hit [by] poison.

EXAMPLE OF USAGE

Cancer
Braises 30-120 g dry daruju root and 60-120 g beef without fat in 500 cc water in soil;land;ground pot or enamel pan with small fire during 6 hour(clock, until its(the water remains one bowls. If its(the water running dry before 6 hour(clock, adds hot water sufficiently while always is braised. After chilling, filters and its(the filter water is divided [by] two for twice drinks, morning and evening ( each 1/2 bowls). Each time drinks adding honey sufficiently. Does this therapy every day.

Chronic and acute hepatitis
Iris 60 g root daruju which has been dried thin. Packs into enamel pan, then decanted 500 cc clean water to depth. Braises with small fire until its(the water remains 100 cc. After chilling, filters and its(the water is divided [by] two for 2 times drinks, morning and evening. Each time drinks can be added honey sufficiently.

Hurt is hit [by] poisonous knife
Munchs dry root until smooth, then spread at hurt and wraps with band cloth. Changes 2-3 times one day.

Abscess
Grind four item seed daruju until becoming powder. Pours boiling water into with water sufficiently, then is drinked at the same time. Does every day until recovering.

Wormy
Grind 3-5 item seed daruju until smooth. Pours boiling water into with 1/2 temperature water cups. After chilling, drinks at the same time. This therapy can be done during 2-4 days successively.
